Hip Replacement Abroad - Missandzou’s Story

Missandzou Ngoundou Odile from Gabon, had a congenital bone disease. She had pain time to time but it wasn’t preventing her to work or to do anything. But when she reached the age of 55, this disease had started to prevent her from walking. It appeared that she needed to have hip replacement surgery.

Because of poor health care conditions of Gabon, she started considering her treatment abroad options. At first, she was planning to have her surgery in France but after she learned that Turkey has lots of JCI-accredited healthcare facilities, a wide variety of high-quality medical treatments and best availability for medical professionals to provide sophisticated treatments to international visitors and the most affordable prices, she decided on Turkey. After a bit of research into her options abroad she came across Remed Health. She contacted our team and sent her medical reports to us. We shared her medical reports with our doctors so that they could decide on the best operation. She was very satisfied with our team’s professional support and decided to come to Turkey. We scheduled her consultation with the doctor and booked her hotel. Our team picked up her at the airport and the team was with her throughout the entire process. She had a French-speaking assistant with her all the time. 2 weeks after the operation, we as Remed Health staff decided to cheer her up and organize a surprise birthday party for her. She gave a speech before blowing the candles.

“Remed Health staff made me feel that I was in safe hands. Especially my assistant Enis who I consider as my son, helped me to overcome my fears and anxieties with an unbelievable patience and compassion. He even made me smile before I got into this difficult operation. And it was a world away from my previous experiences in my country. The doctors and nurses worked very hard to help me get rid of my disease which I have been suffering for ages. They were very helpful and understanding and made their best to ensure my wellbeing.”

Her operation was successful. She stayed at the hospital for 3 months and had started taking physical therapy to start walking again. After the surgery and physical therapy she got rid of the unbearable pain and started walking again. When she was discharged from the hospital, she went for a stroll with Remed Health team in the old town of İstanbul.
